2. Temperamentally, Rai Sahib was as greedy as other landlords.

Select the answer using the code given below.

(a) 1 and 2 only · (b) 1 and 3 only · (c) 3 and 4 · (d) 1, 2 and 3

Answer: (d) 1, 2 और 3

Only statement 4 fits the passage: Rai Sahib kept the grazing land for the villagers' cattle out of concern for his tenants. The passage speaks only of 'this bit of land', contrasts him with greedy landlords, and says farmers offered him a good price.

  • ✗ 1. Only 'this bit of land' was reserved for grazing; nothing is said about the rest of his landholdings.
  • ✗ 2. He is explicitly contrasted with 'those selfish Zamindars' who would grab the money.
  • ✗ 3. It can be ascertained: farmers 'had offered a good price' to lease the land.
  • ✓ 4. He refused to lease the grazing land 'for any price' and felt a landlord who did not look after his tenants was 'less than human'.

Remember · In 'not correct' items, reject overgeneralisations (one plot → all landholdings) and claims the passage directly contradicts.
