From the other side of the table
I haven't learned this exam from the outside. I've sat Prelims, written Mains more than once — across UPSC and state civil services — and faced the interview board. I know what the week before Mains feels like, what a disappointing result does to the next attempt, and which advice actually survives contact with the exam hall.
For the last seven years I've put that experience to work for others: mentoring aspirants one-to-one and helping more than a hundred of them clear Prelims, Mains, and the interview — including final selections.
Why this exists
Most UPSC preparation doesn't fail for lack of effort. It fails for lack of structure — a generic countdown, a different face for strategy, evaluation, and mocks, and feedback that's a number instead of a reason.
Minimalist IAS is built as the opposite: one mentor who owns your preparation from Prelims strategy to Mains answer-writing to the interview, working with you every week, with every target logged and every answer read personally.
The approach is deliberately small. A limited cohort, so that "personal" stays true — and five mentees selected in UPSC CSE 2025 on this same system.

Motivation runs out by week three. Weekly targets, tracked in a dashboard, keep going when it doesn't.

Every answer gets a remark on what's strong, what's missing, and what to fix next — a mark alone teaches nothing.
