How a week is scored
100 points — 70 of them come with a mentor
With a mentor · 70
On the site · open to everyone · 30
Camps: Basecamp 0 · Camp I 25 · Camp II 50 · Camp III 75 · Summit 90. On your own a week tops out at 30 — Camp I. For a mentorship student, a mentor part not given yet (no targets set, no test logged) is left out and the rest re-weighted, so nobody is marked down for something they were never given.
Why it's built this way
Competition that keeps you going
Hours count only when they're real
Inside a study log your mentor reviews, and never more than 6 a day — so burnout isn't rewarded and nobody can pad a number.
Camps, not just ranks
Basecamp, Camp I, II, III, Summit — a place you can see yourself reach, whatever the others do.
Your next step, every week
Your board tells you the one action that lifts your score most this week, and where it would put you.
Most improved has its own board
A student who climbs from 30 to 55 is on a podium too. Progress is the point.
Nobody is listed at zero
A week off means you're resting, not ranked last. The board never shames anyone.
Your name, or a Himalayan peak
Appear as first name and last initial — or anonymously, as Kamet, Trisul or Nanda Devi. Never your email.

FAQ
About The Climb
What is The Climb?
The weekly cohort board for Minimalist IAS mentorship students (Momentum, Ascent and Summit). Each student's week is scored 0–100 on consistency, the targets their mentor sets, tests and answer writing, and placed on one mountain — Basecamp to Summit.
Do more study hours put me higher?
Only inside your study log, which your mentor reviews, and only up to 6 hours a day. Logging every day matters more than marathon days — the log is 60% days, 40% hours.
Will other students see my name?
Only your mentor and the other students in the mentorship cohort see the board. Students see your first name and last initial — or, if you choose, an anonymous Himalayan peak name. Emails are never shown.
Can I use it without mentorship?
Sign up free and your dashboard shows a preview climb: your own score from practice tests, the weekly revision quiz, your days on the site and answers you send for evaluation — up to 30 of the 100 points. The other 70 (targets, study log, evaluated answers and tests) and the cohort board itself come with Momentum, Ascent or Summit.
Is the simulator on this page real data?
It uses the real scoring rules, applied to the week you set. It doesn't show any student or any result — it shows how the method works.
