The passage says conventional classrooms emphasise ‘fixed duration over learning effectiveness’ and put every learner through the same lectures, in the same way, for the same time. The two statements restate these two ideas.
- ✓ 1. Classrooms work ‘by emphasizing fixed duration over learning effectiveness’, and after the fixed duration the model ‘moves on’ whatever has been learnt. Time spent, not competency reached, is the goal.
- ✓ 2. ‘every learner is subjected to the same set of lectures in the same way for the same duration’ is one-size-fits-all. The author calls it ‘the tyranny of the classroom’ because it makes no allowance for different learners.
Remember · A statement that closely paraphrases a sentence of the passage is a valid inference, even if its wording is a little sharper.
