'BioCarbon Fund Initiative for Sustainable Forest Landscapes' is managed by the

Answer & explanation

Answer: (d) World Bank

The BioCarbon Fund Initiative for Sustainable Forest Landscapes (ISFL) is a multilateral fund. Donor governments support it, and the World Bank manages it. It promotes reduced greenhouse gas emissions from the land sector, including REDD+, climate-smart agriculture and better land-use planning.

  • ✓ (d) The World Bank's own ISFL flyer describes the facility as 'supported by donor governments and managed by the World Bank'. The ISFL website says the same.
  • ✗ (a) The Asian Development Bank is a regional development bank for Asia and the Pacific. It does not manage ISFL.
  • ✗ (b) The IMF deals with macroeconomic and balance-of-payments stability. It does not run forest-carbon funds.
  • ✗ (c) UNEP is a tempting choice because the topic is environmental. But ISFL sits within the World Bank's carbon-finance family, which also includes the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility.

Remember · ISFL, the BioCarbon Fund Initiative for Sustainable Forest Landscapes, is a World Bank-managed multilateral fund for REDD+, sustainable agriculture and better land-use planning.
