Consider the following pairs:
| National Park | River flowing through the Park | |
|---|---|---|
| 1. | Corbett National Park | Ganga |
| 2. | Kaziranga National Park | Manas |
| 3. | Silent Valley National Park | Kaveri |
Which of the above pairs is/are correctly matched?
Answer & explanation
Answer: (d) None
None of the three pairs is correct. Each park has a different river from the one named. Corbett has the Ramganga, Kaziranga lies on the Brahmaputra floodplain, and Silent Valley has the Kunthipuzha.
- ✗ 1. The Ramganga is the river that flows through Corbett's valleys. The Ganga does not flow through the park. The Ramganga joins the Ganga much further downstream.
- ✗ 2. Kaziranga sits on the Brahmaputra floodplain, and the Diffalu, a Brahmaputra tributary, flows through its National Park area. The Manas river belongs to Manas National Park, a different park in Assam.
- ✗ 3. The Kunthipuzha flows through Silent Valley from north to south and joins the Bharathapuzha. This is a Kerala river system. It is not the Kaveri.
Remember · Corbett – Ramganga; Kaziranga – Brahmaputra (Diffalu inside); Manas – Manas river; Silent Valley – Kunthipuzha (a Bharathapuzha tributary). Match the park to its own river.
