Turkey is located between

Answer & explanation

Answer: (b) Black Sea and Mediterranean Sea

Turkey has the Black Sea on its north and the Mediterranean Sea on its south. It also has the Aegean Sea on its west. So it lies between the Black Sea and the Mediterranean Sea.

  • ✗ (a) The Caspian Sea is a landlocked sea far to the east. Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Iran lie between it and Turkey, so Turkey has no Caspian coast.
  • ✓ (b) The Black Sea is Turkey's northern boundary and the Mediterranean its southern one. The Bosporus, Sea of Marmara and Dardanelles form the Turkish Straits, which lead out of the Black Sea.
  • ✗ (c) The Gulf of Suez is in Egypt, on the Red Sea side of the Sinai Peninsula. It is not near Turkey.
  • ✗ (d) The Gulf of Aqaba and the Dead Sea lie in the Levant, around Israel, Jordan and Egypt's Sinai. That area is well south of Turkey, beyond Syria.

Remember · Turkey: Black Sea to the north, Mediterranean to the south, Aegean to the west. The Bosporus, Sea of Marmara and Dardanelles are the Turkish Straits.
