With reference to “Aam Admi Bima Yojana”, consider the following statements:

  1. 1.The member insured under the scheme must be the head of the family or an earning member of the family in a rural landless house-hold.
  2. 2.The member insured must be in the age group of 30 to 65 years.
  3. 3.There is a provision for free scholarship for up to two children of the insured who are studying between classes 9 and 12.

Which of the statements given above is/are correct?

Answer & explanation

Answer: (c) 1 and 3 only

Aam Admi Bima Yojana covered the head of the family or one earning member of a rural landless household. It also gave a free scholarship add-on for up to two children studying in classes 9–12. The eligible age was 18–59 years, not 30–65, so only statements 1 and 3 are correct.

  • ✓ 1. The insured member is normally the head of the family or one earning member of the family. Rural landless households are among the households the scheme covers.
  • ✗ 2. The eligible age band is 18 to 59 years, not 30 to 65 years.
  • ✓ 3. A free add-on scholarship goes to a maximum of two children of the beneficiary studying in classes 9–12, at Rs 100 per month per child.

Remember · Aam Admi Bima Yojana (LIC-run): age 18–59; covers the head or one earning member of the family; free scholarship of Rs 100 a month for up to two children in classes 9–12.
