Select the correct answer using the codes given below:

Answer & explanation

Answer: (b) 1 and 2 only

The Mega Food Park Scheme of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries exists to build modern infrastructure for food processing along the chain from farm to market, with reduced wastage as an expected outcome. Supplying emerging or eco-friendly technologies to entrepreneurs is not one of its objectives. The Ministry handles technology upgradation through a separate scheme. So statements 1 and 2 are correct.

  • ✓ 1. The scheme's primary objective is to provide modern infrastructure facilities for food processing along the value chain from the farm to the market.
  • ✓ 2. Reduction in wastage is a stated expected outcome of the scheme. It also lists creation of high-quality processing infrastructure and an efficient supply chain, which lets perishable produce be processed instead of lost.
  • ✗ 3. The scheme's objectives concern infrastructure and the farm-to-market supply chain. Providing emerging or eco-friendly technologies to entrepreneurs is not among them. Technology upgradation and modernisation of food processing industries falls under a separate scheme of the Ministry.

Remember · Mega Food Parks provide modern farm-to-market processing infrastructure and reduce wastage. They are not a technology-supply scheme.
