Match List I with List II and select the correct answer using the code given below the lists:

List I (Centre of Handicrafts)List II (State)
A.Mon | 1. Arunachal Pradesh
B.Nalbari | 2. Assam
C.Pasighat | 3. Meghalaya
D.Tura | 4. Nagaland

A B C D

Answer & explanation

Answer: (a) 4 2 1 3

Each place lies in a different north-eastern state: Mon is in Nagaland, Nalbari is in Assam, Pasighat is in Arunachal Pradesh and Tura is in Meghalaya. That gives A-4, B-2, C-1, D-3, which is option (a).

  • ✓ A Mon is a district in Nagaland (A-4). Its Konyak people are skilled in handicrafts such as basket making, cane and bamboo work and brass work.
  • ✓ B Nalbari is a district in Assam (B-2). It is home to a museum founded by the Nalbari Sahitya Samaj in 1972.
  • ✓ C Pasighat is in Arunachal Pradesh (C-1), and it has one of the state's district museums. It is not in Meghalaya, Nagaland or Assam.
  • ✓ D Tura is the headquarters of West Garo Hills district in Meghalaya (D-3).
  • ✗ (b) It puts Mon in Nagaland correctly. However, it wrongly pairs Nalbari with Meghalaya, Pasighat with Assam and Tura with Arunachal Pradesh.
  • ✗ (c) It wrongly places Mon in Arunachal Pradesh, Nalbari in Meghalaya, Pasighat in Nagaland and Tura in Assam.
  • ✗ (d) It wrongly places Mon in Arunachal Pradesh and Pasighat in Nagaland.

Remember · North-East craft centres: Mon (Nagaland), Nalbari (Assam), Pasighat (Arunachal Pradesh), Tura (Meghalaya).
