Which one of the following issues the 'Global Economic Prospects' report periodically?

Answer & explanation

Answer: (d) The World Bank

Global Economic Prospects is the World Bank's report on the world economy. It is published twice a year, in January and June. It gives growth forecasts for the global economy, for advanced economies and for emerging and developing economies.

  • ✗ (a) The Asian Development Bank publishes the Asian Development Outlook, which covers developing Asia. It does not publish Global Economic Prospects.
  • ✗ (b) The EBRD publishes the Transition Report, which covers its countries of operation. It does not publish Global Economic Prospects.
  • ✗ (c) The US Federal Reserve is the US central bank. It issues US monetary policy reports and projections, not a global growth report of this name.
  • ✓ (d) The World Bank publishes Global Economic Prospects. Its official page describes the report as biannual.

Remember · Global Economic Prospects is the World Bank's biannual (January and June) report. The IMF's counterpart is the World Economic Outlook, and the ADB's is the Asian Development Outlook.
