Which of the following can aid in furthering the Government’s objective of inclusive growth?

  1. 1.Promoting Self-Help Groups
  2. 2.Promoting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
  3. 3.Implementing the Right to Education Act

Select the correct answer using the codes given below:

Answer & explanation

Answer: (d) 1, 2 and 3

Inclusive growth means growth whose benefits reach all sections of society, especially the poor and weaker groups. Self-Help Groups give small borrowers access to credit. MSMEs create jobs and spread opportunity. The Right to Education Act builds the education and skills people need to share in growth. All three help, so the answer is (d) 1, 2 and 3.

  • ✓ 1. Banks find it hard to lend to very small borrowers. Self-Help Groups fill that gap through collective guarantee, bringing the poor, especially women, into formal credit and livelihoods.
  • ✓ 2. Planning documents describe the dynamism of MSMEs as critical for inclusive growth. They are a large source of jobs and entrepreneurship outside big business.
  • ✓ 3. The Right to Education Act, 2009 guarantees free and compulsory elementary education to every child aged 6 to 14. This puts the fundamental right under Article 21A into effect. Better education and skills let more people take part in growth.
  • ✗ (b) This leaves out the Right to Education Act. Education is a core tool of inclusion, so omitting it is wrong.
  • ✗ (c) This leaves out Self-Help Groups, which are a main route for credit and livelihood support to the poor.

Remember · Inclusive growth works through credit access (SHGs), jobs and enterprise (MSMEs) and human capital (education, RTE). Measures of all three kinds support the inclusion objective.
